Signature Restoration Projects
2624 Claremont St., Los Angeles
Originally built in 1939 and renovated by acclaimed mid-century architect Kazuo Umemoto in 1965, this home was filled with architectural details that we recreated with modern convenience in mind. The unique kitchen cabinetry constructed from continuous grain Alder was directly inspired by Kazuo Umemoto’s design from 1965. However, we altered the layout to center the sink under the new rear window with a beautiful view of the Silver Lake hills. We replaced the linoleum floor in the kitchen with mid-century inspired terrazzo tile. In the living room, we added a brick-faced fireplace with slim gas insert to provide a focal point for the room and added custom oak rails and screens that evoked the 1965 mid-century renovation. The renovation was completed with a complete backyard transformation and full renovations of both bathrooms. The master bath was completely redesigned and finished with Morris and Co. wallpaper, custom cabinetry, and a marble shower.
2015/17 Kerlerec St., New Orleans
This circa-1910s classic New Orleans shotgun-double was in near-ruins when we began work. After heavy damage from Hurricane Ida, it required extensive structural repair to address water and termite damage throughout the structure. Supported by state and federal tax credits, this property was restored to its former glory and is now being used as a long-term rental in Esplanade Ridge. Project scope included extensive reframing, siding, new roof, window and door restoration, plumbing systems, new electrical wiring and panels, central air, and floor refinishing. We are proud to have preserved or recreated all original architectural details. The design was achieved through historical reference (many interior and exterior colors inspired directly from discoveries during demolition) and cost-conscious decision making that balanced our design-driven approach with the budgetary constraints of the investor.
